From October 12 to November 5, 2023, the city of Mexico hosts the fifteenth edition of Mexico Design Week, an event designed for design enthusiasts, offering a rich and diverse program with France as the guest country for this anniversary edition.
Throughout the event, various activities unfold: the French Design exhibition celebrates the invited country, the Vision and Tradition program brings together designers and artisans to create unique pieces, Inédito showcases the work of young Mexican designers, local artists and craftsmen open their workshops…
But the highlight of the show is undoubtedly the Design House, an unoccupied house transformed into an incredible exhibition space where the best architectural studios in the country present a different universe in each of the rooms.
It is in this context that our creation “Patchwork Mania” was selected by the Faci Leboreiro firm for their amazing space. Guided tour.
Faci Leboreiro: An Innovative Studio that Awakens the Senses
Among the studios participating in the Design House, you can find Faci Leboreiro, a duo formed by Carlos Faci and Marina Leboreiro, two architects who graduated from the Harvard Graduate School for Design.
Their work is characterized by a sensory and emotional approach to design, aiming to create spaces that tell stories and invite interaction. Their project for the Design House is titled “Salón de Café,” which pays homage to Mexican coffee, from its cultivation to consumption.
Faci Leboreiro’s Salón de Café consists of three areas: the first, called “Origen,” represents the coffee’s cultivation and harvesting process through natural elements like wood, earth, and plants. The second, named “Transformación,” illustrates the roasting and grinding of coffee using industrial elements such as metal, glass, and concrete. The third, called “Degustación,” symbolizes the coffee tasting and sharing process with warm and comfortable elements like velvet, leather, and our “Patchwork Mania” wallpaper.
"Patchwork Mania" Wallpaper: a touch of color and creativity
The wallpaper adorning the walls of the tasting area in the Salón de Café is an original creation from our Customizable Collection named “Patchwork Mania.”
For this space, we customized the pattern in deep red shades. This creation is available in various colors and can even be fully customized in color.

How "Patchwork Mania" was created
This creation is an assembly of hand-carved patterns in our workshop. About fifteen small graphic elements were carved using linocut, printed traditionally, and then digitized to ultimately form a panoramic design that is both graphic and organic, reminiscent of bark and wood. Perfect for the Coffee Lounge!
Mexico Design Week 2023 is a unique opportunity to discover the talent and creativity of Mexican designers and draw inspiration from trends coming from France, this year’s guest country. Among the many projects presented, Faci Leboreiro’s Salón de Café stands out for its sensory and emotional approach to design, paying tribute to Mexican coffee and highlighting the “Patchwork Mania” wallpaper from Maison Les Muses.
